RE-Discovering the Advertising Industry.

When I first hear about MAIP, I had no idea what I was in for. I didn't understand the need for a multicultural advertising internship program. I also didn't know what the 3% Movement was.

However, a growing trend I noticed was how every, single agency I toured in the last year now has a new "diversity and inclusion" department or movement. I'm glad but also disappointed that it took so long.

I was such a fool. I graduated from the Texas Creative sequence at UT Austin and was spoiled by the diversity of our program. I am thankful to have had peers that were open-minded, thoughtful and aware of the growing changes in our world and industry.

The faces I now see at ad agencies across the country, do not fully represent those that actually live in our country. 

I'm grateful that MAIP exists so that the ads we see on the daily, aren't all made by individuals of the same race, ethnicity or background, and the 3% Movement exists so that each agency can contain more than 11% of one gender.
